In many plants, a dangerous practice has become normalized:
opening a panel and assuming it’s de-energized simply because “that’s how it was left.”
During an inspection, we found circuits that were still energized even with the main breaker down.
It wasn’t malicious. They were faulty connections and return circuits that no one bothered to check.
These kinds of errors directly endanger people and equipment.
They not only cause accidents but also result in serious damage and complete production shutdowns.
The rule is simple and non-negotiable:
before working on a panel, verify the absence of energy point by point.
Safety is not a formality or an assumption.
It’s a basic practice that protects people and keeps operations under control.
